The actors made the characters look like that they knew where to go and it looked fake.
They acted like they knew that there was a camera there.
The guy trying to get into the barn had the right tempo, but there was something missing.
I liked how he was trying to get into the first door, but the second one lacked realism.
The brown leather gloved hand sticking out of the door was predictable and expected.
I liked the girl standing in the middle of the road, but when she ran off opposed to walking or disappearing, I lost interest in her mystery.
The editing was better than you had before. I hope the set gets better.
The grass was too pretty to be convincing of ascary.
If the Independent Filmmaker’s Coalition of Kansas City gave a good response, then they are easy to entertain.
The film is a great effort, there are just a lot of flaws, and it is very amateur.
I didn't like the music, it doesn't seem right
I am curious to know why you are filming a story that has been done many times before. there is not as much to be scared of in a repeated story, unless you are making this film for people who have not seen a scary movie before.
Example: Cut-ups of the SUV driver seem dragged out and redundant to the talent's previous actions... correction?: cut the redundancy actions (head shaking, etc.) out and leave the cut shorter. Remember that people's attention spans in this modern age are "bite sized".
Example: Color scemes seem to be very saturated and give an opposite impression of what may be intended... Correction: Use after effects to make the asthetics of the scenes influence how you want the audience to feel.
These are all just small thoughts that are a matter of opinion more than anything... if the intention of the filmmaker is to achieve the opposite of what I'm suggesting, then that is how it should be. The beauty of what we do in filmmaking is in the nature of the art. There is no wrong or right way to do it. Just YOUR way... thanks and I'll be looking forward to a response and seeing more.
Agreed on the in truck scene, it was redundant. Watching it a third time and fourth time, I think maybe cutting the part where you are watching him through the mirror down about 3 seconds. Or when you cut back to him after glancing at the girls. Cut him in at 28-29 seconds.
In hearing Kody and Lexy talk about it, I know some of the plans you have for the color in the movie, so I wont comment. Then again, I know nothing about making movies. Just watching them. LOL But that was the one thing that stuck out at me too. But FANTASTIC job. I am stoked to see the finished product.
Do you have more footage of the terrain from that day? It's be great to see some of the area where they are through the eyes of one of them. For example, when Whitney did look around briefly, it would have been cool to see a distance of some kind. Although I, of course, am not sure exactly what you're going for. All opinions here. Also, the color is really pretty, and I could see that as a negative or a positive.. However, I do think because successful scary movies are tough to make, you need to have as many scary compliments in the film as you can get.
Can't wait to see it when it's finished! !
Who's that Katey McDoucheNozzle fellow who commented above?
Anyways,
I know you guys have mentioned scoring that is going to be done. How much input are you going to have over the style of music and the kind of instruments used? I always consider the music to be significantly important, and am just curious how much collaboration there will be with it.

This rough throw together looks clean and the timing of each cut is really nice (except for one shot of Allison that lingered a bit long. again, I don't care for the shot anyway because it seems weird in continuity.)
You guys showed some really neat shots that I didn't even know you got during filming! Pleasantly surprising..! Thanks for showing us these little bits, although I know you guys are holding back the real goods... (obviously, why wouldn't you?)
I think it's a good idea to hold close the input of people close to the film. There are several sets of positive, helpful eyes..so don't be discouraged by people who purposely trash this process just to get you down. That's just not classy. Mostly everyone on here is able to critique without being an asshole, but there's always that one or two.
Some thangz:
Could you use the audio of Michael F. when he says "Fuck you!" but switch the visual to the other Mike or both of them or something? It would enhance the performance of both of them. Although, I don't think it's bad how it is at all, I just wonder what it would look like a different way.
Do you have a better shot of me trying to open the second door? At first I thought it was alright, but at least two other people think it looks "contrived" (and I have to be honest, the second door was always weird to me.. I think I needed a bigger running start for that one.. lol.)
I think you should scrap the "where the fuck is she line?" if you plan to use that sequence of them looking through the house (which I think is cool. Get really creative with the editing though if you can.)
You guys are really talented. There are a LOT of people that are excited to see the film!
Love,
